The city was named after the Adair family, who settled in the area. The Adairs were Scottish adventurers who intermarried with Cherokees and stayed in the area for a while. These pioneers were very influential representatives of the Cherokee nation and eventually founded the town. Today, Adairsville is located two miles north of its original location and is known as the “Adairsville of the North.” The town celebrates the Great Locomotive Chase every October.

The town was an important strategic location during the Civil War. The Western and Atlantic Railroad stopped in Adairsville, and the railroad owned large machine shops. The train brought supplies from the Atlanta factories to the front lines in Virginia. The area also contained a large gun and powder factory. The town was also supplied with food by local farmers. In fact, the area was named after William Watts, a local philanthropist.

While it is not clear what caused Adairsville to fall to the Union, it was an important part of the war. It is also the site of Georgia’s first Boy Scout Troop. It was founded in 1915, and was named after the man who led it. The town is known for its historical significance and is home to several historic sites. The town was named for early Scotch settlers. There were three brothers who migrated to the United States. The first one came to the United States before the Revolutionary War. Two brothers stayed in Adairsville before the railroad was completed. The third brother returned to England. The General locomotive was stolen by Union raiders, and the following day, the General pulled onto a sidetrack in the town to let the freight train pass. The pursuers, who had been trying to prevent the railroad from moving, raced towards the town. The trains stopped. The locomotive “Texas” backed into Adairsville, unloaded the cars and pursued the thief.
