15 Best Campgrounds near Ashland, Oregon

December 8, 2021 | More: Campgrounds| Oregon

If you want to visit a small city in southern Oregon, Ashland is a great choice. The area is home to Oregon Shakespeare Festival and other events, and is known for its scenic parks. Lithia Park is southwest of downtown and includes a rose garden and duck ponds. North Mountain Park is home to a nature center and themed gardens. Kids will love ScienceWorks Hands-On Museum, which has hands-on experiments and building materials.

For outdoor enthusiasts, the area is home to numerous hiking trails. A full-service marina is located on the lake, as are two campgrounds and cabin rentals. There are also many fishing and hiking opportunities in the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument, just an hour’s drive away. The Grizzly Peak trail offers 5.2-miles of hiking and epic views of Ashland. If you love the outdoors, try out Acid Castle Rocks, a mile-long hike above Lithia Park. It offers great views of the area and interesting large boulders. The Hobart Bluff trail is 2.5 miles long, and provides great views of the surrounding countryside.

If you’re looking for a place to spend the night, check out the Hyatt Lake Recreation Area, a reservoir formed by impounding the Rogue River. This natural attraction is ideal for families and couples. The camping areas at Hyatt Lake offer flush toilets, showers, and boat docks. Just be aware that you won’t find hookups at the site, so plan accordingly. In addition to exploring the lake, Ashland is a great place to stay while you’re in the area.

Ashland is within easy driving distance of San Francisco and Portland, so you can easily commute there on your way to work. This city is an outdoor lover’s paradise. Residents can enjoy the nearby trails, fishing in lakes, and paddling on rivers. Additionally, Ashland is home to Mount Talent, an eight-mile-long cross-country ski resort that’s just 15 minutes from downtown. With all these attractions, Ashland is a great place to raise a family.

If you’re looking for an activity that’s sure to get you outdoors, Ashland Oregon is the place for you. If you’re looking for a fun family vacation, rafting in the Rogue River is a great option. There are two main camping areas: the Oak Slope Campground and the RV Park. Both provide amenities for campers, including hot showers and picnic tables. There are also several hiking trails in the area.

A leisurely weekend trip in Ashland Oregon should include a day trip to nearby Crater Lake National Park. Located just an hour and a half from Ashland, the lake boasts the bluest waters in the world. A volcanic eruption formed the lake more than seven thousand years ago, and the stone remains of the volcano can be seen in the area. Visitors can hike, camp, and enjoy scenic drives in the park.
