Situated in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, Banner Elk is a charming mountain town between the Beech and Sugar Mountain Resorts. While visiting Banner, visit the Banner House Museum, which features period furnishings from an 1860s home. Wildcat Lake is another area attraction, with a beach and hiking trails. You can also visit Grandfather Mountain, which features a nature museum and trails. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can cross the mile-high Swinging Bridge.

For a more adventurous experience, you can go on a mountain-biking tour. You can even ride an alpine roller coaster! The town is also home to the first-ever North Carolina alpine coaster. The Blowing Rock, Tweetsie Railroad, and Grandfather Mountain are other famous tourist attractions. When it comes to eating, Banner Elk is the high-country culinary hotspot. From gourmet cuisine to down-home cooking, there is something for every palate.

When it comes to activities, Banner Elk is an ideal base to explore the NC High Country. The Linville Gorge Wilderness and Brown Mountain are just a few miles away, and the Orchard at Altapass is a short drive away. If you’re looking for more culture, check out Art on the Greene, which adds art to the green space surrounding the historic Banner-Elk School. The event takes place on Memorial Day, July Fourth, early August, and Labor Day weekends.

A small town Christmas, which is held on the first weekend in December, is one of Banner Elk’s biggest events. The town lights up the tree on Christmas Eve, and then hosts various Christmas-themed events throughout the rest of December. During the summer, the city puts on an outdoor art festival called Art on the Greene. It is held on Memorial Day weekend, the July Fourth holiday, and early August. There are many free concerts and other family-friendly activities, so be sure to check out the calendar before you travel to the city.

The town of Banner Elk offers many outdoor activities and a beautiful mountain backdrop. The Grandfather Vineyard & Winery is an ideal place for a romantic night out on the weekend. Visitors can also experience the local culture by stopping by a charming restaurant. The downtown area of Banner is perfect for the entire family, and the downtown area has plenty to offer for families. While many of the local attractions are seasonal, you’ll find others that are year-round.

The town of Banner is a great place for outdoor activities, with beautiful scenery and a rich culinary scene. The town is home to two of the state’s largest ski resorts, Grandfather Mountain National Park. There are also several private and public campgrounds in the area.
