The first people to settle in Blue Hill in the 1760s used the area for agriculture, cutting the trees for charcoal and lumber. The town began growing blueberries in the 1840s, and a road was built to the summit. This road became a popular route for guests of the Blue Hills hotels. Today, it is home to a popular art festival. The area contains archaeological and historic resources and is one of the oldest urban parks in New England. The Osgood Trail is a challenging hike that will reward hikers with breathtaking views. The Osgood Trail is the most popular trail in the area. However, the Becton Trail is a more popular hike that requires less effort. This 0.6-mile loop starts from the Turkey Farm Road in Blue Hill. You can park in any of the four trailheads in the town. Once you’ve arrived, there are a few parking spots along the wide road shoulder, just opposite the Osgood Trailhead.

This one-mile trail starts at the village and ends near the summit. It provides a great view of Toddy Pond and the surrounding area.
