Edisto Island South Carolina is a sea island that lies in Charleston County and the lower tip in Colleton County. The southern portion of the island is unincorporated, while the larger part is incorporated. The most popular beach on Edisto is Edisto Beach. In addition to the Edisto Beach, the Charleston County part of the island is also a nice place to visit. In addition to the beaches, the surrounding area is also rich with history and culture.

There is no need to worry about staying in a hotel on Edisto Island, as there are many vacation rental options available. Whether you prefer a more private setting or an active one, you’ll find that there’s plenty of recreation and relaxation here. If you’re planning a wedding on Edisto Island, you can celebrate it with family and friends at the Sea Cow Cafe, which is a local favorite.

For a romantic getaway, consider a vacation in this quiet island. Several notable residents of the island were famous, such as Dr. James C. Greenway of the Lauder Family, founder of Yale School of Public Health. Eleanor Frances Lattimore, author of 50 children’s books, including the Little Pear series, also purchased a house on the island. Jaspar Johns bought a house on Edisto Beach in 1961 and wrote a novel called Madness Rules the Hour.

Visitors to Edisto Island can visit the Edisto Museum, which is run by the Edisto Historical Preservation Society. Located on the island, the museum shares the love of history. The Edisto Historical Preservation Society also has a gift shop, where you can purchase items from the local community. The museum is located at 8123 Chisolm Plantation Road, which is the first road you encounter when approaching the island.

For a relaxing vacation, stay in an Edisto Beach state park. It is an hour away from Charleston and offers cabin rentals and tent sites. Besides the beach, the island also has plenty of historic and cultural attractions and a vibrant low-country lifestyle. In addition to beach-side cottages, there are many other things to do on Edisto Island. Camping is a great option for families with kids. If you’d like to camp on the island, there are also RV and tent rentals available. In addition to being able to take your own boat, you can even rent a car and have it delivered.
