Genoa (Glorioplatum) is a wonderful port town and capital of northeast Italy’s Liguria province. It is famous for its pivotal role in regional maritime commerce over the centuries. In the ancient city of Piazza dei Cavalli, you can see the majestic statue of Virgin Mary holding a fish. Short narrow lanes open onto massive squares such as Piazza de Ferrari and the famous Romanesque cathedral of San Lorenzo. UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site in 1992.

Genoa’s exquisite port city, Genoa, is also home to many famous dishes. A crowd-free place, Genoa today offers great eating deals. Genoa has countless restaurants, cafes, bistros and specialty stores where you can find some of the best Genoa food you can try. Genoa’s famous street food consists mainly of pasta, pizza and Chinese food. Genoa’s traditional pizza is called Genoa Pizza, which is of the local origin of the city. The street food in Genoa consists mostly of pizzas, especially the ones with garlic.

For authentic Genoa food, head straight to the local market, where you will find everything from fresh vegetables, meat, local cheeses, and local desserts to coffee shops and gift shops. You can find all this in the street market, which starts from the entrance of the St. Peter’s Basilica and stretches until Colonna d’Avola. There is also a street fair that takes place every Thursday, during which you will find more stalls selling fresh fruits and vegetables, local crafts, jewellery, pottery and other gifts.
