15 Best Campgrounds near Hawaii

July 28, 2022 | More: Campgrounds| Hawaii

There are many benefits to camping in Hawaii. Not only will you save money, but you can also experience the true nature of the islands while staying in tents. Camping in Hawaii is an adventure in itself, and you’ll have the chance to spend a lot of time on the beach. Hawaii has some of the world’s best surfing waves and jungle-covered cliffs. In addition to camping, you can do some awesome activities such as backpacking, surfing, snorkeling, and kayaking.

If you’re looking for a place to camp that does not require a permit, consider the Napali Coast. This is an incredible place for snorkeling, and there are plenty of facilities and restrooms on the beach. Salt Pond Beach Park has some of the best snorkeling spots on the Big Island, and it has many amenities. Families will enjoy this secluded area, as it has picnic tables and showers. And if you don’t feel like diving, the beautiful, dramatic sunsets are just as breathtaking.

If you’re looking for more activity on your next trip to Hawaii, consider hiking the island’s hottest beaches. The Punaluu County Beach Park boasts some of Hawaii’s best black sand beaches. If you’re into camping, be sure to bring water to drink and a cooler for your tent. This way, you can stay cool even in the heat. If you want to stay overnight, the area is ideal for tent camping, with restrooms and outdoor showers.

Camping on Oahu’s north shore is the most scenic way to experience the island. You can find campsites in various locations, including beaches. Kailua Beach is a popular campground, and you can even camp in a hammock here. The beach itself is beautiful, but be sure to reserve a site for your tent beforehand. However, there are some downsides to camping on Oahu. You’ll need to pay for a campsite.

When it comes to avoiding the traffic on the island, Oahu is a great option. There are plenty of things to do on Oahu, so plan on doing one major activity a day. While you’re there, don’t forget about traffic and make sure you avoid rush hour! If you need a vehicle to get around the island, consider taking the Oahu bus or using an Uber or Lyft. Either way, you’ll get around easily.

Another great choice for camping is Ahupuaa O Kahana State Park, a 5,300-acre facility on the north shore of the island. You’ll find tent sites, picnic tables, and electric lights. Unlike many campgrounds, you can immerse yourself in the culture of the native Hawaiian people while camping in Hawaii. The park is relatively remote and largely undiscovered by tourists, making it a perfect choice for those who want to experience the island’s true nature.

Another option for camping in Hawaii is to try backpacking. Hawaii backpacking trails take you off the beaten path and into some of the most beautiful natural areas. Haleakala is the ideal place for this. You can experience the true wilderness camping near the summit of Haleakala. For a 9-mile hike, you can reach the Paliku and Holua campsites. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can try a hiking tour of the summit.
