During your stay in Juneau, you should explore the vibrant art scene. The town is home to a blue “Nimbus” sculpture and life-size bronze statue of a breaching whale. The Alaska State Museum is one of the top ten museums in the United States and features exhibits about the diverse Native populations of the area. Alaska is home to 229 federally recognized tribes, including the Tlingit, a coastal tribal group whose artwork is renowned.

If you’re bringing an RV, you can stay at a Juneau Alaska campground. There are several different options to choose from, including secluded, car-camping, and hike-up camping. If you don’t want to camp in the woods, there are also places to stay near the city. If you’re looking for a campsite with a view, you can stay near Mendenhall Lake, which is managed by the US Forest Service. Mendenhall Lake Campground is about 13 miles from downtown Juneau. The park includes nine full-service RV sites, 51 basic-service sites, seven backpacker sites, and 48 campsites that are over 30 feet long. You can even pitch a tent and bring along your camping equipment. You can even purchase tent pads for a comfortable and convenient stay.

For the adventure-seeking traveler, Juneau offers more than enough trail-miles to keep you busy. You should try to hike in Juneau, if only to get a feel for the area’s rugged beauty. If you’re a fan of Miley Cyrus’ “all about the climb” song, Juneau is the place to go hiking. There are dozens of hiking trails in Juneau, so it’s imperative that you get out and explore.

If you’re traveling by boat, you can also choose a camping site near the port at Old Sitka State Historic Site. Campsites at this historic site are within walking distance of the Alaska Marine Highway Ferry Terminal. They have vault restrooms, water pumps, and hiking trails. Alternatively, you can camp at a campground near the harbor for a night or two and enjoy the beauty of the city at a reasonable price.

If you have a passion for adventure, Juneau’s Mount Roberts Tramway offers spectacular views of the city and surrounding islands and channels. From the summit, you can experience the majesty of Mendenhall Glacier, a giant sheet of ice that flows into the Mendenhall Lake. Whether you’re a nature lover or want to get up close and personal with the local wildlife, Juneau is the place for you.

In Juneau, you can find a wide range of culinary experiences. From small plates to large plates, you’ll find something to suit your taste buds in a variety of restaurants. The Rookery offers Stumptown Coffee, and its menu rotates regularly to showcase the freshest local ingredients. The Rookery also serves The Rookery Ramen. Its ramen is known for being delicious, and it’s the only ramen location in the state.
