15 Best Campgrounds near Lake Havasu

May 5, 2022 | More: Campgrounds| Lake Havasu

If you’re looking for an oasis on the edge of the desert, consider visiting Lake Havasu. This reservoir is on the Colorado River, straddling the border between Arizona and California. Easily accessible from Las Vegas and Phoenix, Lake Havasu provides unlimited outdoor activities for those who love being outside. For the best way to experience this oasis, camp at one of the many developed campgrounds, boat or dispersed campsites, or rent an RV.

The Lake Havasu Field Offices manage 73 boat-access campsites on 20 miles of the Arizona shoreline. Most of these sites offer full hookups and include a trash receptacle. Most campsites also have restrooms and shade structures for the campers’ comfort. These campsites are available on a first-come-first-serve basis, and there is a 14-day stay limit.

If you don’t feel comfortable camping at a traditional campground, consider boat-in camping at the Islander RV Resort. This lakefront campground is just 1.5 miles away from the water and offers great views and watercraft rentals. The Islander also has a marina for launching boats, a marina for docks, and a beach with swimming areas. The resort also has a heated swimming pool, spa, and adjacent golf course. Other amenities at this lakeside campground include laundry and outdoor recreation such as Bocce ball.

For those with an appetite for adventure, Lake Havasu is the perfect vacation spot. The city is home to three breweries, a distillery, and a famous desert bar. The area is a popular spring break destination, and you can find all sorts of exciting activities here. While you’re here, be sure to check out some of the city’s other attractions, including the historic London Bridge. The London Bridge was built in the 1830s and spanned the River Thames in London. However, the bridge was dismantled in 1967. The London Bridge is now home to the Lake Havasu Visitors Center, and it makes for a fun and educational walk. Another highlight of Lake Havasu is the collection of lighthouses. There are 18 lighthouses in Lake Havasu.

In the summer, temperatures can reach a hundred degrees in Lake Havasu, and at night, they can dip to the mid-80s. Regardless of your preference, campers should pack proper cooling strategies and hydrate thoroughly to avoid heat-related illnesses. Fall is a great time to visit Lake Havasu because temperatures fall to the low 80s. Camping and hiking are among the most popular activities during this time. Attractions in Lake Havasu are plentiful.

If you’re looking for a place to camp in Lake Havasu, you can choose from several RV parks. Crazy Horse RV Park, for example, is the largest RV park in the area. It has a variety of amenities, including a water park, boat and jet ski rentals, and a convenient convenience store. Some RV sites even feature sewer and water hookups. You can even book a waterfront site if you’d like to have a full kitchen.
