The city of Manchester in New Hampshire is home to several museums, cultural landmarks, and outdoor attractions. The Currier Museum of Art, New Hampshire Institute of Art, Franco-American Center, and Manchester Historic Association Millyard Museum are all notable locations for the arts. The city is also home to the Amoskeag Fishways Learning and Visitors Center and SEE Science Center, and Valley Cemetery is an early example of a garden-style burial ground.

US 3 enters the city from Bedford, crossing the Merrimack River on the Queen City Bridge, and then following Elm Street through Downtown Manchester. After that, US 3 takes the Daniel Webster Highway, where it merges with NH 28. From there, the highway connects with the Maine-Vt border, and to the city’s northeastern corner. The town also offers two-lane highways to connect with I-93 and the Massachusetts North Shore.

Camp Carpenter is a 250-acre wooded property operated by the Daniel Webster Council. Throughout the year, visitors can partake in numerous outdoor activities, from archery and BB gun shooting to nature exploration. There are several themed activities, including an Indian Village and a Fort Friendship. The family-oriented atmosphere is one of the draws of this site, so families and groups can spend time together here. It also offers camping and other recreational facilities.

Manchester, New Hampshire is the only New Hampshire city with a professional sports team. The Fisher Cats of the AHL play at the Verizon Wireless Arena, as does the Manchester Monarchs of the ice-hockey league. Other notable sports teams in Manchester are the women’s tackle football team and the roller derby league. This area is home to many amateur sports as well, including rugby and roller derby. And, if you’re looking for a little more excitement, Manchester has a thriving sports scene.

The city is home to numerous educational institutions, including Southern New Hampshire University, Granite State College, and the New England Institute of Art. The schools in Manchester give the community a young, educated workforce that boosts the city’s economy. While the unemployment rate is low, job opportunities are plentiful in Manchester. There are numerous higher educational institutions in the city, which offers students a wide variety of career paths. So, if you’re interested in a career in the arts or sciences, this area is definitely worth considering.

The Amoskeag Manufacturing Company envisioned the town to be an industrial center similar to Manchester, England, and opened a canal around Merrimack Falls. This canal led to the town becoming home to the largest cotton mill in the world, Amoskeag Mill 11. It was so large, in fact, that workers had to lip-read to communicate with one another. The town was home to numerous other important industries, and many of these are still present today.

The city’s downtown is alive with entertainment. The McIntyre Ski Area offers 53 acres of skiing, snow tubing, and night skiing. Other attractions in Manchester include the Majestic Theatre, SEE Science Center, and Massabesic Audubon Center. The Amoskeag Fishways Learning and Visitors Center are prominently located downtown. Nearby is the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel, a multi-purpose civic center.
