Located on the central East coast, Philadelphia is the sixth largest city in the U.S. and has a rich and unique history. It also has the sixth-largest workforce in the nation and has highly skilled talent in key industries. With over half of the country’s population living within 200 miles of the city, Philadelphia is one of the most densely populated areas. In 1789, Philadelphia’s ward boundaries were defined by a charter. The First Ward covered the entire region from the Delaware River to the Schuylkill, south of Warthon Street, Little Washington Street, and South Street.
