You can hike along a trail for miles, and many of these trails are open all year, though during winter they are difficult to access. Regardless of the season, you will find that the weather in Pismo is generally good, ranging from highs in the mid-80s during the summer and lows in the winter.

While on vacation, be sure to visit the Avila Hot Springs. Located on a natural artesian mineral hot spring, this spa is fun for the entire family. It has a 400-square-foot mineral pool and a freshwater heated swimming pool. The water is 104 degrees, which is perfect for swimming, and is the ideal way to soak up all those vitamin-packed rays. It also offers dry camping and cabin rentals.

Camping is another way to enjoy the scenery in Pismo. The Oceano Dunes State Operated Campground is a great place to stay if you plan on traveling by RV. It has 42 electric-hookup sites and 40 non-hookup sites. For the family who wants to stay close to the beach, you should stay in one of the RV parks located nearby. If you want to explore the area, you can visit several vineyards while you’re there. The Monarch Grove Winery is close to the Pismo Beach Golf Course. The staff at the Monarch Grove Winery Tasting Room is friendly and helpful. The Kelsey See Canyon Vineyard has an outdoor patio for guests to enjoy the scenic view. You can also visit Edna Valley Vineyard, a seven-mile drive from the city.

The city has a total population of around seven thousand people. Pismo Beach is also part of the Five Cities area. It was originally a Spanish mission and was incorporated into a city in 1850. If you’re looking for a more laid-back beach setting, the north end of Pismo has a few options. Shell Beach is known for its quieter neighborhoods, but there’s a public park located along Ocean Boulevard. It was once home to a large concrete dinosaur, but this attraction is now gone. However, if you’re looking for a place to unwind and enjoy the view, you might want to explore the Eldwayen Ocean Park.

If you’re looking for a place to admire the local wildlife, Pismo State Beach offers a unique opportunity to do just that. Visitors can stroll through the Monarch Butterfly Grove, a protected area where you can admire monarch butterflies during October and February. The area also has a thriving birdwatching scene, including endemic birds like the great blue heron, Nuttall’s woodpecker, and the brown pelican.
