Waterville Valley, New Hampshire, is a town located in Grafton County, New Hampshire. As of the 2010 census, the town’s population was 247. It’s located in a rural setting. There are a number of different activities and attractions in the town, including hiking, biking, skiing, and fishing. There are also many scenic spots to take in while staying in the area. There are many ways to experience the town’s mountain bike trails. If you’re an avid rider, you can take advantage of the many short hikes in the area. Trails link together to allow you to explore the area without having to take a long hike. You can start hiking from anywhere in town, and you can access the Waterville Valley Trailhead via Route 49, Orris Road, and Upper Mad River Road. The town’s small, self-contained village features several lodging options, including the Snowy Owl Inn, which is a favorite among families.

The White Mountain National Forest protects nearly 800,000 acres of the White Mountains in New Hampshire and Maine. Within the National Forest, you’ll find majestic peaks, crystal-clear mountain streams, and dense hardwood forests. One of the best hiking trails in Waterville Valley, New Hampshire is the Sandwich Dome. This trail is an underrated gem. You can hike to the summit of this 3,957-foot mountain in the Sandwich Range. It’s the perfect destination for a hiker looking for stunning views and fewer crowds. The views are fantastic, and it’s easy to see why this hike is sometimes joked about as a hidden gem.

The town square in Waterville Valley is close to the scenic point. It features a sandy beach, a raft out in the center, and various water vells to explore the pond. Nearby is a 9-hole golf course. The course is a challenging yet enjoyable challenge that appeals to both novices and experienced golfers alike. Many people come to Waterville Valley to play golf during the summertime.

Waterville is also home to numerous hiking trails that wind through the White Mountains. The Greeley Ponds and Elephant Rock trails are moderate to easy hikes. The Mount Osceola Trail is rated moderate to difficult. The Mount Tripyramid Trail, a moderate to difficult trail, crosses three 4,000-foot peaks. Another hike in the area is the Welch-Dickey Loop Trail. This moderate/difficult 3 to four-hour loop. To hike to the top of Snow Mountain, you can take the Waterville Cascades trail, which begins on Snow Mountain and ends on the summit.

By the 1980s, the town was on the brink of extinction. The final Tecumseh race was held there in 1962. The town had just 22 residents. Meanwhile, Interstate 93 was being built north of the White Mountains and began to cut across the countryside. The town was in danger of becoming extinct, as its population dwindled to just 22 people. It was only during the 1980s that the population increased, and the resort experienced an increase in popularity.
