15 Best things to Do in Big Bear Lake and Lake Arrowhead

February 4, 2022 | More: Big Bear Lake and Lake Arrowhead| Things to Do

While many people think that Big Bear Lake and the nearby Lake Arrowhead have similar weather conditions, this is not always the case. Both locations experience similar highs and lows throughout the year. In the summer, temperatures are 81 degrees in both towns. However, the two destinations have distinctly different climates. In the winter, temperatures are slightly cooler in both places, ranging from 47 to 44 degrees. Here are some things to consider when comparing prices in the two towns.

The Grizzly Manor Cafe is one of the best-known breakfast spots in Big Bear City. It’s a tiny but famous breakfast joint, and you can get a huge plate for your money here. If you’re looking for a great place to grab a drink, Barrell 33 is a great place to go. They serve craft beer and wine and have a beautiful back patio.

The area has been privately owned for decades. Many of the homes surround the lake have private docks and are reserved for homeowners. Despite the privacy of the homes, visitors can enjoy Lake Arrowhead on a boat tour or go swimming. Some private home rentals include beach clubs. Also, the lake is lower in elevation, meaning that there are often less snowfall and less traffic. During the summer months, the lake is a popular destination.

Boulder Bay is an unspoiled park on Big Bear Lake. The small park is a great place to relax with a drink and view the beautiful scenery. If you’re visiting with kids, you can take advantage of the picnic tables and restrooms on the property. During the day, the area’s many hiking trails and bike trails provide a memorable day out for the whole family. If you’re looking for more adventure, the nearby Skypark has plenty of activities.

If you’re interested in learning more about the area’s wildlife, you’ll want to visit Wildhaven Ranch. This nonprofit is a popular place to meet animals, and its animals are friendly and well-behaved. For example, a black bear may be the perfect place for you to pet a pet. Another good place to see native snakes is at the Wildhaven Ranch. The San Bernardino Mountains Wildlife Society has a large variety of species at its facility, and you can easily spend a day there.

Both Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear are popular mountain lake resort communities. Both are located about 15 miles apart. The two mountain communities share a lake and are both very close to each other. While the distances between them are approximately the same, Big Bear is the more scenic choice. At the Big Bar, you can try out the various outdoor activities, including paddleboarding, kayaking, and horseback riding. You can also visit the historic sites of the area.
