February 11, 2022 | More: Breaux Bridge| Things to Do

The City of Breaux Bridge is located in St. Martin Parish, Louisiana. The population of the city was 8,139 at the 2010 census, up from 7,281 at the 2000 census. The city is part of the Lafayette Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes cities in the Lafayette metro area. The area around Breaux Bridge is also known as the Cajun Country. There are plenty of restaurants and shops to choose from, so if you’re looking to live in a Cajun community, you’ll want to stay in Breaux-Bridge.

A visit to Breaux Bridge will provide you with a unique opportunity to experience the local culture. The town’s downtown features art galleries and boutique shops showcasing Louisiana-made crafts and gifts. In addition to the crawfish, you can also purchase pottery, stained glass designs, and custom knives. While in town, you’ll also find a quaint little cafe where you can enjoy delicious meals and drinks while browsing local art and craft vendors.

One of the many attractions in Breaux Bridge is its rich history. In 1771, an Acadian named Firmin purchased land that is now the city’s downtown. He acquired the land from a wealthy merchant in New Orleans, Jean Francois Ledee. The branding iron that Breaux bought from him was registered in the year 1774. By the time of the French Revolution, he was one of the largest property owners in Bayou Teche country.

Despite being a small town, Breaux Bridge is home to some of the most interesting art and craft shops in the state. You can find original gifts and collectibles at the Pink Alligator Gallery, a local art space that features works from both established and emerging artists. The town is also home to the famous sculptor Kelly Guidry, who has been creating beautiful pieces for nearly four centuries. The French colonial city of New Iberia is close by, making it a great place to visit.

The city is located on a slow-rolling bayou that is also known as the “Crawfish Capital of the World.” The city has many historic sites and is a great place for a weekend getaway. You can get there from New Iberia and Baton Rouge by car, or you can take a train or plane to nearby cities. In case you’re driving to Breaux Bridge, it’s best to take a side trip.

Besides being a historic city, Breaux Bridge is also known for its nature. The area is a swamp filled with animals and plants that are indigenous to the area. There are wild shorebirds and songbirds, and reptiles and amphibians are commonly seen on the water. In Breaux, a tour to a nearby lake is worth its weight in gold. This way, you can see the wildlife in its natural habitat.
