The Allegany Museum covers regional history in the one-room cabin in Riverside Park. The Western Maryland Scenic Railroad departs from downtown Cumberland, with exhibits on the canals surrounding the city. The Great Allegheny Passage trail is also nearby, running northwest from the city. If you’re in the mood for a day outdoors, take a trip to Cumberland. It’s just a few miles west of Baltimore.

The Historic District is a bustling entertainment center featuring a collection of beautiful homes and landmarks. There are many dining options in this area, including the Allegany Museum. For those who like the arts, the Cumberland Theater is home to numerous performances. The theater opened in 1988 and is managed by two Artistic Directors. A visit to the theater is sure to provide some fun memories. While you’re here, don’t forget to check out the many art galleries and museums that are in town.

To experience the local arts, head to the Allegany Arts Council, located downtown. This organization promotes the development of the area through the arts. The Allegany Arts Council has been in operation since 1975, and has been hosting art shows and exhibitions for art lovers. You can also find many concerts and plays throughout the year.
