Eatonton, Georgia, is a town in Putnam County, Georgia, United States. The population of Eatonton is 6,307 and is home to several major companies. The city is named for William EATON, an English diplomat and officer during the First Barbary War. The name of the town is a combination of Eaton’s surname and the English suffix “ton,” which means “town”.

The town was founded in 1808 and is located in Putnam County. The city has a population of around 6,986. According to the 2010 Census, the population of Eatonton was 3,940. Today, Eatonton is the 116th largest city in Georgia and the 3966th largest city in the United States. The city is located on 21 square miles and has a density of 341 inhabitants per square mile.

In Eatonton, Georgia, a historical museum pays homage to the city’s literary roots. This museum was founded in 2014, and features exhibits of notable writers such as Flannery O’Connor and Joel Chandler Harris. It is also home to a number of other special events, and is a great place to spend the day if you’re looking for an exciting getaway. The historic district of Eatonton is just a short drive from downtown Atlanta.

In addition to the Eatonton Park, the town has a number of other monuments that are worth visiting. The Putnam County Veterans Wall of Honor Park is a great place to visit while in the area. The wall has six walls and over 1500 bricks, each engraved with the names of Georgia veterans. The town’s historic sites are also fascinating. The Alice Walker Driving Tour leads tourists past the important places in Walker’s life, including the Wards Chapel A.M.E. Church and her childhood home. There are even some interesting facts about the author and her life at the Eatonton Visitors Center. The site is home to the museum’s artifacts that were used in the book and the artist’s childhood.

Another interesting historical site in Eatonton is the Putnam County Veterans Wall of Honor Park. This monument pays tribute to homegrown veterans and is composed of six walls. These walls are adorned with the names of US veterans. You can sign your name in the bricks, which will be added to the wall. The cost of entering the park is about 45 USD for adults, and children under three are free. You can also find a variety of restaurants and other types of shops in the Eatonton area.

Besides the historic sites in Eatonton, the town is also home to several notable people. Henry Grady Weaver, author of The Mainspring of Human Progress, and Alice Walker, author of The Color Purple, lived in Eatonton. Other famous residents include S. Truett Cathy, inventor of the chicken sandwich, and Joel Chandler Harris, the founder of the Chick-fil-A fast food restaurant chain.
