There are many attractions in Farmington, Connecticut, and the surrounding region. A popular place to go on a day out in the town is the Hill-Stead Museum, which is located in a palatial Colonial Revival mansion built for industrialist Alfred Atmore Pope in 1901. The house was designed by McKim, Read, and White and has 19 rooms open to the public. Various paintings and sculptures are displayed throughout the property, which is especially beautiful in fall.

If you are looking for a day trip with your family, consider taking your children to the Farmington Art Museum. It’s an old estate and showcases a wide variety of Impressionist works. You can even tour the mansion itself! Tour guides are knowledgeable and the grounds of the mansion include a sunken garden and walking trails. The fall foliage in the area makes it particularly beautiful. The Town of Hartford is only a short drive away.

It is surrounded by woodland, lakes, and period gardens. The park’s twenty-kilometer trail system is perfect for families and is a great way to spend the day. And, for those who are looking for a place to relax, a relaxing walk through the village is a must.
