If you’d rather stay in town, you can sample some of the world-class dining and shopping that Galveston is famous for. Just keep in mind that some of the local attractions might be closed temporarily due to health concerns.

While you’re in town, take a tour of the Old City Cemetery, which is made up of seven cemeteries merged into one. History: Galveston was charted in 1839 and was the major port of the Southwest during the 19th century. It played a unique role in Texas history. Through shipping, goods, and money, it served as the state’s gateway and helped foster trade and independence. It is also a place of history, which is why Galveston is known as the “Galveston of the South.”
