April 4, 2022 | More: Glenwood Springs Colorado| Things to Do

The resort city of Glenwood Springs, Colorado is famous for its natural hot springs. Nestled in the rugged Rocky Mountains, Glenwood Springs is surrounded by the vast White River National Forest. The town’s unique landscape features the Hanging Lake and the Glenwood Caverns, which are ancient underground caves. In the summer, you can head to Adventure Park for roller coasters, canyon swings, and other exciting activities.

If you’d rather be in the water than out in the wild, there are a few options for you. There’s the free camping available right outside of town, or you can opt to stay in a nearby cabin. After a day of hiking and biking in the area, you’ll be hungry. Luckily, there are several mouthwatering restaurants and breweries in town. You’ll also find a number of outdoor dining options.

While visiting the area, you can enjoy water sports at the Hanging Lake and the Glenwood Canyon. A geological wonder, Hanging Lake is full of caves created by receding waters. During the warmer months, you can enjoy the Gold Medal-designated waterways at the Glenwood River Whitewater Park. Paddleboarders love the man-made wave at the whitewater park, and the town’s winter activities include skiing, snowmobiling, and ice-skating.

For thrill seekers, there’s the whitewater rafting in Glenwood Springs. The town is home to several different rafting companies, offering trips for everyone from families to experienced rafters. While the water-based activities are exciting, the view is spectacular. And don’t miss the chance to experience the city’s eerie, historic charm from the comfort of your own home. There’s always something fun to do in Glenwood Springs, Colorado.

In addition to its outdoor activities, Glenwood Springs also has a rich history. In the late 1800s, there was an infamous man named John Henry “Doc” Holliday, who was a dentist, gambler, and gunfighter. He came to the town looking for a cure for tuberculosis and died in Glenwood Springs. Many fans of Doc Holliday pay homage to him at the museum located in downtown.

The town’s historical past and unique culture are popular attractions in the town. Southern Methodist University named Glenwood the “most artistically vibrant small town in the United States” in the spring and the “most fun city in America” in 2011 by Rand McNally. The history of the town is fascinating. There are hot springs, a variety of outdoor activities, and plenty of places to eat and drink. There are also many recreational opportunities, including golfing.

The town’s unique downtown area is easily navigable. The historic buildings and attractions are within walking distance of each other. There are many bike trails in the area, which offer scenic views and easy accessibility. You can also rent a bike and enjoy the scenic scenery. If you have an active lifestyle, you might even want to consider biking in the town. You’ll be amazed at how well it works for people of all ages and interests.
