When in Indianapolis, try to visit the museums! There are many to choose from, including the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Newfields Art Museum, and Crown Hill Cemetery. You can also check out the Indiana State Museum and the Indian War Memorial Museum. Many of the museums are free to visit, but you should make sure to make time to see them all! Listed below are some of the best free things to do in Indianapolis. Read on to find out more about this fun city!

Visit the Indianapolis Art Center – If you have a love of art, then you’ll love visiting the Art Center! This is one of the most important community centers in the area, and contains three different art galleries. You can find local art here at a variety of affordable prices, including works by emerging and established artists. You can also check out the museums in the city’s White River State Park. And don’t forget to check out the NCAA Hall of Champions! There are also many other things to do and see in Indianapolis!

Visit the City Market – Indy’s famous City Market is home to a variety of food. Try a hot dog from the Tomlinson Tap Room! The hours of the Market will vary, depending on the time of the year. While you’re there, take a moment to admire a plaque honoring the legendary Elvis Presley, who played his last concert at the Indianapolis Market Square Arena in 1977. You’ll also be close to the Indianapolis Historic Catacombs.

Oldfields-Lilly House & Gardens – The city’s 26-acre estate is a National Historic Landmark. If you’re interested in architecture, you’ll want to check out this landmark on the grounds of the Indianapolis Museum of Art. It’s the perfect place to spend the afternoon or evening with friends. Regardless of your interests, Indy will offer something for everyone. If you’re into art, Indianapolis has plenty of galleries to choose from.

White River State Park – Located near downtown, the White River State Park is a lush oasis surrounded by countless locations. The Indianapolis Zoo is a great place to bring the whole family, as it features over 3,800 animals from over 320 different species. It also features a botanical garden and an aquarium. There’s a lot to see and do in this historic city. It’s also the perfect place to take the kids to see what Indiana is all about.

Benjamin Harrison Museum – This museum is another must see for the children while in Indianapolis. This National Historic Landmark features a collection of art and fascinating photographic displays. You can also take a tour of the Benjamin Harrison house, which has been preserved as a museum since 1857. The museum is open on Mondays and Sundays.
