Another historic site in the area is the Hyde Log Cabin, which was built in 1783 by Jedediah Hyde, one of the first settlers to the Islands. It is open on weekends until mid-October. One of the most popular museums in the area is the Henry Sheldon Museum of Vermont History, or Sheldon Museum. The museum is housed in the three-story Federal-style Judd-Harris House. Henry Sheldon founded the museum in 1882. The museum includes many private collections. Visitors can take self-guided tours through the museum year and learn more about the area’s rich history. It is a must-see in the area, but it is not the only museum worth visiting.
