15 Best things to Do in Miles City Montana

May 19, 2022 | More: Things to Do

For those who love adventure and the great outdoors, you’ll love Miles City, Montana. This city has plenty to offer its visitors. This city is home to the Range Riders Museum, a popular attraction since 1876. It also has the WaterWorks Art Museum, which showcases the works of leading artists. You can find it on East Rosebud Rd. Whether you’re looking to learn about art or enjoy the great outdoors, Miles City is sure to satisfy your desires.

In addition to the wineries, there are many other interesting attractions in Miles City. Visitors can enjoy the scenic Tongue River while tasting wine. There are tours available for wine lovers. While the winery is located in the country, you can also visit Miles City’s Main Street. Once filled with gambling and saloons, the main street has become a modern shopping district filled with boutiques, art galleries, and restaurants.

For those with children, you can also visit the Montana Theater, a 1930s movie house that still shows the latest films. Although it’s 80 years old, the Montana Theater has remained an integral part of the city’s cinema history. It opened a few years after Gone With the Wind, so it’s easy to see why this movie palace is so beloved among locals. It’s also located on Main Street, which is perfect for strolling while you watch the latest movies.

There are several outdoor activities in the city, including hiking, biking, and golfing. Aside from hiking and biking, there are also many places to stay in the city. There’s also the Miles City Hotel, a modest hotel, and a campground. All of these activities will make for an unforgettable vacation. Just make sure to pack your gear and hit the trail! Let’s take a look at some of them.

Before the railroad came to the area, Miles City was home to a large number of cowboys. Cattle drives were very popular here in the late nineteenth century, and cowboys from all over brought their cattle to the railheads. The cattle were then shipped to packing plants in the east. During the 1880s, the town saw a spike in growth, with thousands of cattle coming from Texas. Eventually, the town became the largest horse market in the world.

In the decades following the World War II, public institutions in the area played a crucial role in the recovery of the community. The population grew to nearly ten thousand residents by the 1960s, thanks to federal funding and local support. The county government constructed a state-of-the-art Art Deco courthouse in 1948-1949 and purchased prime east-side land for a Veterans Administration hospital. The groundbreaking ceremony took place in October 1948, and the hospital opened its doors to the public in 1951.

The city is a thriving university town. Located in the Gallatin Valley, it’s surrounded by the mighty Rockies. The city offers diverse restaurants, attractions, and wedding venues. To find out more, you can check out Yelp and Tripadvisor, both registered trademarks. The Bucking Horse Sale is a popular annual event, and there’s a website dedicated to it. You can also visit the city’s official website to view details about this annual event.
