15 Best things to Do in New York City

May 26, 2022 | More: New York City| Things to Do

You have probably heard of the New York City skyline and its towers from TV shows and movies, but what is it really like? New York City’s skyline is a cultural icon, immortalised on television, in movies and on Fifth Avenue. The iconic city has much to offer, from 5,000 years of art to the Roco fashion of the 1920s to the Old Masters. The city is a diverse melting pot, with something for every taste.

For the best views of the city, take the Staten Island ferry. It’s located near Battery Park and features several decks for outside and inside seating. The view of Manhattan, Staten Island, and the Statue of Liberty is spectacular. While on the ferry, you may want to avoid rush hour, as it is usually crowded. It will take about one hour to get from Battery Park to the Statue of Liberty. If you’re traveling on a budget, consider renting a car to get around the city.

If you’re looking for culture, you should visit the Museum of the Moving Image, a modernist building designed by Marcel Breuer. The Museum has a large collection of art and film. Visiting here will help you understand the history, technology and art of film. Whether you want to enjoy a film, learn a new language, or simply educate yourself, you can find an excellent museum here. And, if you’re a movie lover, New York has many cultural events that are worth visiting.

While you’re in the city, you can also experience the culture of the Big Apple with an immersive experience at the American Natural History Museum. Based on the hit Netflix show, Stranger Things is an interactive exhibit set in the year 1983. This unique experience will immerse you in the ’80s, complete with costumes, props and cars, and even a Tesla rental. For those who love baseball, the iconic New York Yankees are a must-see.

There are several museums in Manhattan. The New York Public Library houses many world-class collections. The New York Public Library Main Branch borders the park to the east, and the underground level of the museum was built during the restoration of the area in the 1980s. Whether you’re an art buff, a history buff or just a culture vulture, there’s sure to be something for everyone in New York City. If you’re not sure what to do in New York City, try visiting one of these museums, or explore the boroughs of Manhattan.

The Sphere was a sculpture created in 1971 by Fritz Koenig. It originally stood in the World Trade Center plaza, but was moved to its current location after the 9/11 attacks. The Hope Garden, a memorial to the victims of the AIDS crisis, is another attraction. Wall Street’s Charging Bull is another iconic structure. The historic 19th century townhouse neighbourhood of Greenwich Village is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the LBGTQ community occupied many of these spaces.
