15 Classic Souvenirs from Bethany Beach and Fenwick Island

February 4, 2022 | More: Souvenirs

Bethany Beach and Fenwick Island are a pair of coastal Delaware communities. According to 2010 census figures, the population of these two towns is approximately 379, a 10.8% increase from the previous decade. The coastal town is located on a barrier spit, just off the Delaware coast. The area was originally settled in 1638, and is now part of the Salisbury, Maryland-Delaware Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The small coastal town of Fenwick Island is four miles south of Bethany Beach. Though it is not really an island, the thin peninsula resembles a barrier island. The town is part of the ‘Quiet Resorts’ group, and is conveniently located between two popular vacation destinations. This is a great way to experience both towns and see both sides of the state. There are many restaurants, boutiques, and art galleries, so you can find a variety of options that will suit any budget.

The small town of Fenwick Island is located just four miles south of Bethany Beach. Although not technically an island, the island is thin and resembles a barrier. This beach town is known for its quaint charm and is part of the ‘Quiet Resorts’ group. The small, picturesque town offers a relaxing getaway from the hustle and bustle of a busy beachfront.

While the two towns are close together, it’s best to carpool when visiting either. The beach area is very crowded and traffic is very bad. You can easily walk to the beach in less than a half hour. The quiet beaches of Bethany and Fenwick Island are a great alternative to the frantic atmosphere of nearby Ocean City and other popular resorts. The town has everything you need for an enjoyable vacation.

The Bethany-Fenwick Island Chamber of Commerce offers tons of information on the area and its many attractions. The staff of the chamber is always friendly and eager to help tourists find what they’re looking for. And, for the most part, the area is a safe and relaxing place to visit, especially if you’re traveling with your children. In addition to the beach and the marshes, the area has a lot of activities for families.

Bethany and Fenwick Island are both perfect places to take a break from the bustling city. Here, bike cruisers rule the streets and the crashing waves drown out the sound of emails. It’s the quintessential beach town, with candy stores and ice cream shops galore. If you’re looking for a fun family vacation, Bethany and Fenwick Islands are ideal.
