The settlements were well-established, and showed sophisticated building and farming techniques. The settlements were also linked to other settlements.

The city of Gallup is often called the “Indian Capital of the World” due to its location within the Native American reservation. Because of its rich history of military service, gallup has been named the “Most Patriotic Small Town in the United States.” There is a Navajo slum, and the Navajo Code Talkers worked with the U.S. military near Gallup. Their work created valuable codes and secret messages for the war effort.
