There are many things to do in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. This scenic town is less than an hour’s drive from Aspen and offers visitors plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation. Its scenic mountain setting and calming mountain atmosphere are also sure to arouse the senses. The town is also located just off Interstate 70, at exit 116. It is 157 miles west of Denver. Once you reach Glenwood Springs, you can choose to rent a car, fly in to the area, or take the train.

The town is easy to navigate. The downtown area is close to hotels, restaurants, and other attractions. Local buses operate throughout the city, and taxis are available 24 hours a day. Although many visitors prefer to bring their own vehicle, there are plenty of ways to get around without one. President Teddy Roosevelt spent his summers at the Hotel Colorado. Another famous resident, Ted Bundy, was jailed in the town and escaped in 1977. The biggest mineral hot springs pool in the world is found in Glenwood Springs. This natural wonder has long been a tourist attraction in the area. Ute Indians once used the Yampah Hot Springs as a place of healing. In the 1880s, resort facilities were constructed and became internationally famous. One of these buildings, the elegant Hotel Colorado, was even the Western White House for Theodore Roosevelt in 1905. Eventually, the city benefited from a diverse economy and a growing railroad service.

For outdoor activities, there are a variety of campgrounds in the town, from campgrounds to RV sites. Glenwood Springs is also close to several rivers. The Colorado River, Colorado’s longest Gold Medal Water, and the Crystal River are all within easy reach. The city is home to the largest Hot Springs Swimming Pool in the world.
