15 Classic Souvenirs from Milwaukee

May 20, 2022 | More: Milwaukee| Souvenirs

In addition to being a major center for high-tech industries, Milwaukee is also home to five Fortune 500 companies. These include Johnson Controls, Northwestern Mutual, Manpower, Rockwell Automation, and Harley-Davidson. Other industries of significance include brewing, printing, and conventions. Milwaukee is accessible to the largest ships using the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence Seaway, making it an excellent port for importing and exporting goods and materials. In addition, Milwaukee has extensive rail and road systems, as well as an international airport.

There are many unique gift ideas for those you know. There are plenty of fun gifts for kids and adults alike. Many of these local artists produce beautiful items in the shops they run. You can buy handmade soaps and lotions and functional pottery in Milwaukee. And with the Cyber Monday sales, you can enjoy the Admirals’ games for less. You can also take advantage of Milwaukee Beer Gear, which specializes in locally-themed items. With a 25% off coupon, you can save even more.

The weather in Milwaukee is very changeable. Due to its location within the Great Lakes region, the city experiences snowy and cold winters and hot, humid summers. The warmest month is July, with an average temperature of 73.3 degrees Fahrenheit. The coldest month is February, when the average temperature drops to 24.0 degrees. Despite the changing seasons, there are many reasons to visit Milwaukee. If you are a motorcycle enthusiast, you’ll find a Harley Davidson dealership in the area, or if you’re into opera, you’ll find plenty of art to enjoy in this city.

The population of Milwaukee is still slowly increasing. The modest growth is concentrated around the downtown area. The city’s population added 4,000 people between 2011 and 2013, which shows that it’s finally turning the corner after nearly five decades of decline. This growth has been attributed to the construction of new apartments and condominiums downtown, with most new residents being young adults. A recent survey revealed that more Milwaukee residents are becoming professionals in their fields. For this reason, the future of the city is bright.

Despite its size, Milwaukee is home to many universities and colleges. Marquette University, for example, was founded in 1881. In addition to Marquette University, Alverno College was founded in 1893, while Cardinal Stritch University was founded in 1937. The Milwaukee School of Engineering is also located in Milwaukee, and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee was founded in 1885. The city is home to two dozen private high schools, many middle schools, and dozens of elementary schools. You can also visit the WITI TV Tower, off of Oak Leaf Trail, north of Capitol Drive.

In the seventeenth century, Native American tribes inhabited the area. Jacques Marquette camped here and fur traders soon followed. After a series of agreements with the Native Americans, the area was made open to settlement. Three settlers purchased land in the area in 1835, including Solomon Juneau. Others included Byron Kilbourn and George Walker. The first settlements occurred on the south side of the Menomonee River. It didn’t take long for the city to develop.
