15 Classic Souvenirs from Morro Bay California

May 26, 2022 | More: Morro Bay California| Souvenirs

For the ultimate beach vacation, look no further than Morro Bay California. The town’s beautiful beaches and huge volcanic monolith, Morro Rock, attract wildlife and visitors alike. Enjoy hiking and kayaking, golfing, boating, or simply kick back and relax. There are plenty of things to do in and around the town, including whale-watching cruises. Listed below are a few of the most popular activities.

Nearby Los Osos and Baywood Park, visitors can go stand-up paddleboarding, kayak, or enjoy a beautiful day at the beach. For those who enjoy hiking, there’s the Morro Bay State Park and Montana de Oro State Park. Birdwatchers can visit the Sweet Spring Nature Reserve. These three beaches are also popular with hikers. There are also several nature reserves, including Morro Rock State Park, which is ideal for bird watching.

For families with small children, Morro Bay has some of the best playgrounds in the area. Located in the Cloisters House Subdivision, Cloisters Community Park is a hidden gem that has low traffic, a great play structure, and vast grassy fields. You can also ride your bicycle or bike on the wide boardwalk trails, which have great views of both the north and south beach. The Cloisters Community Park is also a great place for a picnic.

For a quick meal, try one of the many restaurants in Morro Bay. If you’re on a road trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles, you’ll want to make time for a delicious breakfast or lunch. For more casual dining, there are also a few great options for dinner. One of the best places to get a good meal is Frankie & Lola’s Cafe. The restaurant is known for its generous portions and comfort food, including grilled cheeses. Other dining options include Giovanni’s Fish Market & Galley.

For dinner, consider visiting Tognazzini’s Dockside “Too” Restaurant. This casual restaurant serves Californian and Mediterranean cuisine and also features an extensive wine list. You can sit outside on the patio for dinner and take in the breathtaking views of the bay. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday from 5 PM and is perfect for family dinners. For sunset, you can even dine on the deck overlooking the bay.

A few other attractions are worth checking out while visiting Morro Bay. The Monterey Bay Aquarium and the OstrichLand are popular family attractions. The town is also home to numerous wineries and breweries. Another local favorite is Big Basin Redwoods State Park, the oldest state park in California. Also, you can take a scenic train ride around the bay. While you’re there, don’t forget to pack a camera and binoculars.

Whether you’re coming from San Luis Obispo or Cambria, you’ll want to find a hotel in the area that offers a complimentary breakfast each morning. If you plan to stay in Morro Bay for two days, consider booking a beginner surfing lesson. You’ll be glad you did! You can even drive up Highway 101 to Santa Barbara for the next day’s activities. Alternatively, you can drive south from the city.
