If you’re a history buff, you should visit the City of Raleigh Museum. The building dates back to the late 18th century, and Joel Lane, who owned a plantation in the region, was instrumental in the creation of the museum. Today, the museum is run by the National Society of Colonial Dames of America, and it is preserved in remarkably good condition. During your visit to Raleigh, be sure to check out the exhibits on slavery and the city’s history.

The racial makeup of Raleigh, North Carolina, was fairly evenly distributed in 2000. Twenty-nine percent of the population was under the age of eighteen. Thirty-one percent were aged 18-24. Thirty-four percent were aged 25-44. Eight percent were 65 years and older. The median age in Raleigh was 31 years old. In other words, the population of Raleigh was evenly divided by age. It’s important to note, however, that the city is not as diverse as it looks from the outside.

For those with a love of books, a trip to the House of Swank is an absolute must. Opened by a dedicated NC resident, the shop is both an art gallery and a bookstore. Many of its books are excellent, including books for children and young adults. Downtown Raleigh is full of exciting boutiques and restaurants, and the Warehouse District is no exception. Residents and visitors alike are drawn to the warehouse district’s hip and happening atmosphere.

A visit to the North Carolina Museum of Art is a must for any history buff. The museum is open Tuesday-Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Friday, the museum is open until 9 p.m. The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences is another popular attraction. The North Carolina Art Museum and the NC Symphony are other popular destinations in Raleigh. You can also visit a live music concert at the Red Hat Amphitheater.

The North Carolina State Capitol building was built in 1840. It’s a National Historic Landmark and one of the best-preserved Greek Revival-style buildings in the country. Inside, you’ll find a rotunda and statues that have served the state’s citizens for centuries. You can also visit the North Carolina Museum of Art, one of the state’s finest cultural institutions. And finally, don’t miss out on the University of North Carolina, which houses a large library.

For families with young children, there’s no shortage of activities to keep them happy and entertained. Children will love the Marbles Museum, which blends exploration and play. It hosts tons of events throughout the year, from princess tea parties to NASA space telescope viewings. There are over 15 full-time exhibits and an IMAX theater that shows educational documentaries, superhero movies, and more. All the family fun is just minutes away from downtown Raleigh.
