15 Classic Souvenirs from Roswell New Mexico

June 22, 2022 | More: Roswell New Mexico| Souvenirs

There is a lot to see and do in Roswell New Mexico, which isn’t just famous for the sighting of UFOs. This town is full of diverse activities, including a Roswell Museum of History, and is an excellent place to learn about Roswell’s history. In fact, the museum is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Roswell. You can see life-size models of alien spacecraft and storage vessels, as well as an autopsy and a display of the bodies of those who were believed to have been abducted by the aliens.

The city has a large art museum, as well. The museum opened in 1935 and displays works of art and history from the American Southwest. The museum is also home to the Anderson Museum of Contemporary Art, which has been named the best museum in the South West. It also offers a variety of educational programs. The museum has been recognized as a top art museum in the Southwest by the American Association of Museums. The museum’s permanent collection includes many pieces of art by local artists, and the rotating exhibitions showcase the works of world-class artists.

Outside of the historic center, Roswell is a beautiful little town with beautiful historic southern homes and beautiful settings. The Roswell Symphony Orchestra presents a number of concerts throughout the year. You can also attend concerts and special presentations by the orchestra. If you’re interested in learning more about the city’s history, the city has many historical buildings that date back to the 1880s. You can also go on a guided tour of the Roswell Museum to learn more about its culture and history.

Pecos Flavors Winery is a good place to sample some local wines. The tasting room offers New Mexico-made beers and wines. Despite its unusual name, the winery is home to over a dozen New Mexico winemakers. There’s even a 100-year-old bar and a statue of Billy the Kid. If you enjoy fine wines, you’ll also enjoy the live music that the winery occasionally offers.

Another popular attraction in Roswell is the Goddard Planetarium, which is free. If you’re an art lover, you’ll enjoy the collection of paintings by regional and international artists at the museum. Peter Moran and Henriette Wyeth both painted watercolor sketches of the town and the surrounding area during the 1880s. There’s also a gift shop here. The museum also hosts a movie theater. If you’re a space nerd, this is definitely a must-visit.

The Pecos River Wildlife Refuge is another must-see attraction in Roswell. This nature park has a rich variety of birds, including migratory and exotic species. In addition to birding, you can also enjoy a quiet hike along the river trail. While you’re there, be sure to bring a leash for dogs. The sanctuary is pet-friendly, but it’s best to keep small dogs on a leash to avoid any danger to the animals.
