15 Classic Souvenirs from Salt Lake City

June 23, 2022 | More: Salt Lake City| Souvenirs

Brad Collins opened a record store, which he had started 26 years earlier. Despite its relatively new age, it quickly earned a local reputation for being a charmingly old-fashioned outpost. The store offers a diverse selection of music, books, and other items ranging from skateboards to trendy graphic design flourishes. In addition to the vintage vinyl records, it also sells quality accessories. Older types flock to the store for its eclectic merchandise and excellent customer service.

There is also a thriving gay community in Salt Lake City. A recent survey shows that the city has the seventh-highest gay population in the United States. The city is home to more than 30 non-government think tanks and advocacy groups, including the Sutherland Institute, Alliance for a Better Utah, and Equality Utah. The city also hosts numerous foreign dignitaries, including the President of Mexico, who began his U.S. tour here in 2006, and the ambassador of Israel, who opened a cultural center. Additionally, President George W. Bush visited Salt Lake City twice, in 2005 and 2006.

One of the most iconic landmarks in Salt Lake City is the Mormon Temple. Constructed between 1853 and 1893, the temple has three towers, the eastern of which is home to a 13-foot-high gilded angel named Moroni. The museum also has detailed models of the interior. And if you’d rather visit a museum than a historic building, there are plenty of other museums and monuments to explore.

The city is home to a large number of schools. There are twenty-three elementary schools in the district and five middle schools and three nine and ten-grade schools. The city is home to the largest health care provider in the Intermountain West, and a charter school for the arts, the Salt Lake School for Performing Arts. The city is also home to several major businesses. There are more than five thousand new residential units planned by April 2021 and a thriving arts and entertainment scene.

For families, Salt Lake City has some great shopping centers. The Gateway Mall features several national clothing and food retailers and a movie theater. Both The Gateway and Trolley Square are both excellent shopping centers. Both have an abundance of stores and restaurants, as well as a Discovery Gateway and Children’s Museum. In addition, City Creek Center offers high-end retail stores that are not found in other parts of Utah. A variety of shopping options means that everyone can find something to their liking in Salt Lake City.

Television stations in the area provide local news. There are two major daily newspapers: the Deseret News and Now Salt Lake. KTVX 4 is the local ABC affiliate. KSL-TV 5 is the city’s NBC affiliate. The latter two have their studios at the Broadcast House, which is located in the Triad Center office complex. The LDS Church owns both of them. Other television stations in the area include KUTV 2, KSTU 13, and KUCW 30.
