15 Hiking Trails in Ashland, Oregon

Ashland, Oregon is a southern Oregon city best known for its Oregon Shakespeare Festival. The city also has plenty of parks and recreation areas to visit. Lithia Park surrounds Ashland Creek southwest of downtown and features hiking trails, duck ponds, rose gardens, and more. North Mountain Park has a nature center, themed gardens, and a playground for kids. The ScienceWorks Hands-On Museum offers kids the opportunity to build and conduct science experiments.

Located near the city center, the Grizzly Peak Trail is a popular walking route. The first bend of the trail marks the start of the hiking trail, which takes you to a beautiful view of the Cascade Range. This mountain range begins in the south with Mount McLoughlin and stretches to Crater Lake, Mount Thielsen, and the Three Sisters in the north. The trail climbs gently through Douglas fir trees and the occasional incense cedar. Then, it passes through open meadows. The next bend on the trail is 1.3 miles and begins a switchback.

The Grizzly Peak Trail is another great option for hiking in Ashland. This trail can range from a half-mile to almost three miles and starts with a trail register. The view of the Cascade Range from Ashland is among the best in Southern Oregon. The range starts in the south with Mount McLoughlin and extends north to the Three Sisters and Crater Lake. The hike continues through the shade of Douglas fir and incense cedar. At one mile, the trail crosses the spine of a ridge and then passes through open meadows. At 1.3 miles, the trail ends at a fork.

There are two main business districts in Ashland. The downtown area is located around the Plaza and goes northward towards the library. There are several great restaurants along this area. The park connects the two districts. The Grizzly Peak Trail begins with a fork in the trail. You can follow the loop trail or go further south along Siskiyou Boulevard. During the summer, the road is closed to traffic, making this hike a popular choice.

If you like hiking, Ashland is a great place to go hiking. It is a great place to take your family for a picnic, and you can even hike Mount Grizzly Peak, which is a 5,922-foot peak. The hike is 2.5 miles long, so it is ideal for families and small groups. It is also close to Mt. Shasta and Mt. Ashland. Aside from Mount Ashland, there are many other places to explore and enjoy.

Mount McLoughlin is one of the prettiest mountains in the Cascades. The scenic trails in this park will take you to beautiful lakes and vineyards. This is the perfect place to hike. You will also be able to explore the surrounding area by car. The city is home to a number of wineries. If you like hiking, Ashland is a great place to explore. The surrounding area is also filled with scenic views.
