A small beach town on the Monterey Peninsula, Carmel-by-the-See California is located in the north-central part of the state. Known for its scuba diving and surf spots, the city is home to a fairytale mission, museums, galleries and fairytale cottages. A Scenic Bluff Path links Carmel Beach to the scuba entry point at nearby Point Lobos, and points eastward lead to the town’s whaling museum.

The quaint downtown district is a quaint, small town in central California. There are a number of places to stay in Carmel, and accommodations are available within walking distance of the ocean. During the late 19th century, Carmel-by-the-Seen became a city. By 1920, it had a population of 450 people. The town’s population reached a peak of 3,722 people. Many luminaries from this time period lived in the town. The most notable of these were Sinclair Lewis and Mary Austin. They were renowned writers and artists who contributed to the town’s rich history.

The town of Carmel-by-the-Seen is a charming seaside town outside of Monterey. Its 17-mile scenic drive around Lake is a popular destination for tourists. A popular golf course, Pebble Beach, has hosted several PGA Tour events. Lover’s Point and the picturesque Lake are also a great place to go for a romantic dinner.
