15 Hiking Trails in Charleston, South Carolina

January 18, 2022 | More: Hiking Trails

Charleston, South Carolina, is a port city, founded in 1670, that is characterized by pastel antebellum houses and cobblestone streets. Located on the Battery promenade, Waterfront Park, and the harbor, Charleston is an enchanting destination. It is also home to the historic Fort Sumter, the site of the first shots fired in the Civil War. There is something for everyone in Charleston. For those who love history, you can explore the city’s many museums.

There are many things to see and do in Charleston, which is a compact downtown. If you are looking for souvenirs, try a sweetgrass basket, a popular craft made by slaves on plantations. Then, take home a little piece of history – and perhaps a sweetgrass plant! Whether you’re shopping for a unique gift for a friend, or just want to collect one, the sweetgrass baskets make for great keepsakes.

You can find local goods in the Market Place at the end of Broad Street. A great souvenir for travelers visiting the city is a sweetgrass basket, a local tradition. These baskets were originally used as beds for slaves and are now used in households across the South. If you’re looking for a practical souvenir, take a look at the famous Sweetgrass Baskets at the Charleston City Market. Aside from being a great souvenir, these baskets are also useful everyday items.

Several other books about the city include the Cainhoy Peninsula and the Gardens of Historic Charleston, published by Coles, John R. and Tiedj, Mark C. The gardens of Historic and Colonial Charleston are published by the Gadsden Cultural Center and Arcadia Publishing, respectively. For those interested in art, you can also check out the Gibbes Museum of Art. It opened in 1905 and houses American paintings and other works of art with a connection to the town.

The museum is located across Meeting St., and is an excellent place to spend time. The museum is open daily and admission is $10 for adults. You can also visit Fort Sumter, which is a National Monument, on a ferry. While you’re on the island, make sure to visit the National Monument and its ruins. If you’re not sure what to do, you can always take a stroll around town. If you’re looking for a cultural experience, Charleston is the place to go.

Taxis are an excellent way to get around the city. There are many cheap taxis in the downtown area. If you’re planning to go hiking in the city, the area around the Charleston station is dotted with beautiful hiking trails. While it’s easy to get around on foot in the downtown area, it’s easier to hire a car to travel to a different part of town. If you’re looking for a scenic, historic walk, you can even use a horse drawn carriage.
