October 21, 2021 | More: Florence| Hiking Trails

Want to go hiking in Florence on a summer vacation to explore more of that beautiful corner of Tuscany? In this article, we reviewed a complete set of hiking routes and hiking trails in Florence to give you the top twenty best hiking routes in this part of Tuscany. Florence is a charming city with charming old streets and buildings. It has many interesting sites, both inside and outside of the city walls.

The best hikes near Florence are found in the urban areas. These include the popular Mount obligato (which is the highest peak in Tuscany), San Gimignano, Pincio and Catarras. If you like to walk in the woods, you will be happy to know that there are a number of guided tours of the woods, vineyards and gardens in Florence that are available. The guided hikes usually last for about two hours.

Hiking is not the only way to enjoy the beautiful landscape of Florence. You can also go hiking near Florence in the form of dog walks or on foot. There are some good, easy hikes in the sand dunes or along the shores of the Po River. Other ideal locations for walking in the sand dunes are Montalcino, Santa Croce and Siena Valley.

Just across the parking lot from the west side of the Hotel Uffizi in Florence, you will find the Uffizi Gallery and a panoramic view of Florence. It is open the first Friday of each month, from noon until three in the afternoon. You will find this gallery on the left hand side of the Uffizi Museum and this is an excellent afternoon activity. The gallery has many of your favorite art pieces from all over the world as well as some original pieces of art by famous Florentine artists.

Another trail that is a great adventure for the entire family is the Hecetta della Pigna (Heceta’s Path) – it starts by turning right onto the paved path of the Hecetta della Pigna and goes down to the valley of the River Guido. This path is well maintained and passes through groves of olive and oak trees with the grove of Pigna da Pigna trees at the bottom. If you like the sound of Italian wine, the path leads you to a quaint little cafe where you can enjoy some fresh fruit juice and wine while stopping to take a few pictures and enjoy the landscape as you walk.

All these trails provide an excellent view of the beautiful landscape of Florence. But if you want even more of the best things to do near Florence, then you may want to take a day trip to the L’Amore Paris (The Theatre of Light) – here, you’ll walk the length of the theater and enjoy the spectacular view of the city. The theatre also offers an open air concert in spring time each year. For those who are into history and culture, then these trails near Florence are the perfect starting point for a journey through the ancient city.
