When visiting Fort Myers Beach Florida, you will be surrounded by natural beauty. The sandy shores face the Gulf of Mexico. Fort Myers Beach is also home to the Ostego Bay Marine Science Center, which showcases the marine life found in the area. East of Fort Myers Beach, you can explore the Matanzas Pass Preserve nature sanctuary. You can also visit the Mound House, a shell mound from the Calusa Indians. There are archaeological exhibits, as well as shops and restaurants.

The town of Fort Myers is a popular destination for tourists. Fort Myers was founded in the 1850s as a military post to drive away the Seminole Indians. This military post was abandoned in 1858, but was retaken by Federation troops during the Civil War. In 1866, settlers began to move to Fort Myers. A few years later, Fort Myers was officially incorporated.

One of Fort Myers’ many beaches is Lover’s Key State Park, a two-mile stretch of beach located south of the city. When you visit Lover’s Key, you’ll find it less crowded than the other beaches. Besides relaxing on the beach, kayakers can observe dolphins and manatees in the water, and watch birds soar. But there’s so much more to Fort Myers than just water sports and beach parties. The area also boasts a number of restaurants, shops, and restrooms.

Lovers Key State Park offers a variety of activities for a family. This state park also has restrooms, picnic tables, and an outdoor shower. There are also bocce courts available for your enjoyment. When traveling to Fort Myers Beach, bring essential items with you. Make sure to take special items, like kitchen knives, with you. Some items like small mirrors are inexpensive and can be bought locally. You should also pack pet supplies. Pack enough food and supplies for a few days for your pet. Also bring medicine and vitamins for your dog. You can buy a variety of seafood, which is a specialty of Fort Myers.
