October 21, 2021 | More: Genoa| Hiking Trails

Want to go hiking in Genoa on your next vacation to explore this enchanting corner of Italy? In this article, we reviewed the complete set of hiking trails and hikes in the Genoa region to bring you the most popular 20 hiking trails in the area. The hiker will not find it difficult to locate one or two Genoa hiking trails that will satisfy all your hiking needs. Here is the summary of the most popular hiking trails in the Genoa region:

Genoa starts from the foothills of the boot hills on the west side of Genoa city. The first hiking trail starts from the end of Piazza Castello, and leads hikers to a spectacular view of the city. From here, the trail proceeds to traverse through pine forest with the main trail following the coastline of Genoa city. It then curves around the hilltop to enter a tunnel that leads to another trail. This second trail leads to a panoramic view of the sea.

Another popular hiking trail in Genoa is the Piazza San Marco. The hiking route starts from the end of the San Marco tunnel, which is situated beneath the Palazzo Reale Palace. The trail leads hikers to a beautiful view of Genoa city. On the other hand, for those who are fond of biking, the loop can be extended to the northern part of Genoa city. Bikers will enjoy passing through quaint small villages as they cross the border between Italian and Greek islands.

For an exciting hiking experience, one should not miss the Genoa-Ossiana trail. This trail starts by turning right as you enter the village of Genoa. Upon reaching a fork, you should choose to pass through the pedestrian gate guarded by a guard dog. From the pedestrian gate, it is a short walk to the far side of Genoa valley where you can continue to the Tahoe Rim Trail.

Hiking the longest hiking trail in Italy, the Genoa Loop, offers great panoramic views of the surroundings. This route starts its journey at the foot of Mount Etna. After crossing the first bend on the trail, the path bends to the left and leads to a stone bridge. It then proceeds to climb steadily and finally reaches a point where the trail again starts to ascend gradually. At this point, you will be able to see a wonderful view of the mountain below as well as the city of Genoa.

Hiking the TAHOE RIM Trail is another wonderful way to enjoy the unique natural environment of Genoa. The ten miles long hiking trail leads you to several interesting sites such as the Piazza San Marco, Piazza Di Spagna, and Campi dei Cavalli. For those interested in seeing local art, there is the workshop sponsored by the organizers of Genoa Tourist Attractions “Artigianato con le giornata”. While at Campi dei Cavalli, you can stop for dinner. To conclude, the Genoa Loop is a must visit if you are touring Genoa or planning to visit the region during your next vacation in Italy.
