Whether you’re a sports fanatic or just a visitor, Houston has something for everyone. Houston’s professional sports teams play at the Reliant Astrodome, Minute Maid Park, Toyota Center, and BBVA Compass Stadium. The city is also home to five prominent college teams. There are also several minor leagues in Houston, and three women’s leagues. You can catch a game or two in Houston at one of the many annual sports events.

For those who enjoy the outdoors, May represents the sweet spot for outdoor enthusiasts in Houston. While the weather is still warm enough for hiking and cycling, it isn’t too hot to take part in any other activities. Plus, the local landscapes look their best during May, thanks to the spring rains. Many plants are still in bloom. And if you’re looking for a great hiking experience, Houston is a great place to go.

If you’re a fan of hiking, Houston has several hiking trails for all fitness levels. There are miles of trails that vary in length and difficulty. Hiking in Houston will give you an opportunity to experience nature and enjoy the outdoors, while also enjoying the scenery. Hiking in Houston is a great way to escape the city and relax. If you have a dog, it’s easy to find a spot where you can take your pet.

If you want to spend a day hiking, you should consider visiting Houston Nature Preserve. This 17.5-acre wooded preserve is open seven days a week. It is home to a number of different species of native wildlife, and features a unique log home. Hiking trails here are mostly packed earth, and there are also some wooded boardwalks. The Houston Nature Preserve also has picnic areas, and is free to visit.

For outdoor activities, there are numerous parks in the city. Buffalo Bayou Park is an iconic Houston park, located just outside the city’s downtown area. You can enjoy the city skyline from this park, and take a walk along the various trails. You’ll find an underground cistern, an industrial bridge, and tons of trees and plants. You can also get up close to the famous Waugh Bridge Bat Colony. When it comes to the city’s history, it never fails to impress.

Buffalo Bayou is a gateway to nature in Houston. The park has miles of hiking and biking trails. You can take the paved Buffalo Bayou Trail to George Bush Park, or head out onto dirt paths for more challenging rides. Mountain bikers will appreciate the dirt paths through the woods. The park is also open to dogs, as long as they’re on leash. You can also explore the area by bike, and enjoy the city by foot.

The Houston Arboretum is an underrated outdoor spot in Houston. Located in the Memorial Park neighborhood, the Houston Arboretum is a beautiful, calming, conservation area. You can hike for up to five miles on paved trails in the park. There’s a $5 parking fee, except on Thursdays. You can also enjoy the pond and the wildlife center, which features an aquarium and interactive exhibits. The park is open from sunrise to dusk.
