15 Hiking Trails in Louisville Kentucky

May 12, 2022 | More: Hiking Trails| Louisville Kentucky

While visiting Louisville Kentucky, you should check out the museums. Travel & Leisure Magazine named the Louisville Museum of Art one of the world’s best museums. It has rotating exhibits of various art forms, and admission is free on Sundays. Afterward, head to the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory, or head downtown for the Kentucky Science Center. For something a little more upscale, try the Louisville Chocolate Factory. The city has a lot to offer for families, and the Frazier Museum of Art is a great place to begin.

The Central Park is Louisville’s main park, designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, who designed New York City’s Central Park. He believed that interacting with nature could heal the spirit and revitalize the mind. The park is centered around a scenic loop, making it easy to hop in and out as you please. Hiking trails lead through hilly forests and over boardwalks that cross swampy areas. There’s even a bird sanctuary to explore.

For the outdoorsy type, Louisville has plenty of parks. The Parklands of Floyds Fork feature several lakes and a BMX track. There’s also the PNC Achievement Center for Education, Marshall Playground, and Sprayground. The PricewaterhouseCoopers Pavilion is a great place for a family picnic. The Egg Lawn features a signature paved trail that weaves through the trees and wetlands. There’s a lake nearby, and it’s open to the public year-round.

A Louisville KY vacation can include the art museum and zoo. The area is also rich in history and culture, and there’s something for every age. Tourists can experience parks, museums, and art galleries, as well as whiskey tastings, art museums, and outdoor adventures. You won’t be disappointed, no matter what you’re into! So, whether you’re visiting Louisville for the first time or are looking for a weekend getaway, you’re sure to have a great time.

Another Louisville attraction is Kentucky Kingdom. This seasonal amusement park and water park is a must-see for families in the area. It offers thrill rides for the whole family, and even offers kiddie attractions for families. Featuring over 70 rides and water attractions, Kentucky Kingdom is one of the best places to take your family in Louisville. And when the weather gets a little warm, you can spend a day at the Louisville Zoo and take in some of the city’s many festivals.

If you’re looking for something more educational, you should check out the Louisville Science Center. With three floors of exhibits and a four-story theater, this museum is sure to pique any child’s interest. Visitors can also build a roller coaster or explore a mummy exhibit. If you’re looking for something more traditional, you can also check out the Richardsonian Romanesque castle, one of America’s largest concentrations of Victorian-style houses. It is still in good condition and even features direct descendants of the former owners.

For something more unique, try a drag show. At Play Louisville, there are several drag shows every night with a rotating cast of drag queens. Before you go, make sure to read up on the proper etiquette, bring cash to tip the performers, and keep in mind that you’re entering a space where queer people live. And remember, if you’re unsure about drinking bourbon, keep your mind open and try different types of liquor to make your next drink.
