The area offers many hiking opportunities, including historic sites and wildlife hot spots. Hikers should bring an emergency shelter in case of bad weather or accidents. Emergency sleeping bags, survival sacks, or bivy sacks are useful items to pack when on a hike. If the weather turns bad, a sleeping bag will keep you warm and dry. The city has also become famous for the Roswell TV series, about a teenage girl who discovers that her crush is actually an alien. The town is also well-known for the 1947 Roswell UFO incident, which led to the establishment of ufology museums. If you travel to Roswell with kids, a stop in the town is well worth the trip. The town has lots to offer families and is a good place to take them to watch a movie.
