15 Hiking Trails in Sausalito California

June 27, 2022 | More: Hiking Trails| Sausalito California

When in Marin County, you should consider spending some time in Sausalito California. This picturesque seaside town is just a short ferry ride from SF. This town has a Mediterranean feel, and you can experience the best of both worlds – a vibrant art scene and a picturesque bayside setting. The following are a few of the town’s top attractions. For a taste of the local flavor, stop by Le Garage, Fish, or Joinery.

If you’re a novice hiker, consider the 5.3-mile loop in Sausalito. The trail offers breathtaking views of the Bay and Marin Headlands. You can also take a 4.8-mile loop by ferry from Angel Island. This hike features beautiful wildflowers and a stunning view of Alcatraz prison. It’s open year-round and costs a modest entry fee. To reach the top of this hike, you’ll need to ride the ferry from Angel Island to Sausalito.

You can also visit Sausalito as a day-trip from SF. But be warned: this town is not for budget travelers. You can easily spend a full day in Sausalito, so plan your trip accordingly. It’s not cheap to visit Sausalito – it’s worth the money! This charming town offers a relaxing atmosphere that’s perfect for a romantic getaway. Aside from the waterfront, the town’s other attractions include shops, galleries, and restaurants.

If you’re traveling by car, you can visit Sausalito from San Francisco. You can take a ferry from the San Francisco ferry landing or you can drive on the Golden Gate Bridge. If you’re driving, you’ll have to pay a toll to cross the bridge. FasTrack tolls are $7 or $8 depending on the date and time. Cash is not accepted for tolls, so it’s a good idea to check with your rental company ahead of time.

Sausalito’s colorful history dates back to the 1830s, when William Richardson received a land grant from the Mexican government. He called the area Rancho de Sausalito, which means “Rancho of the Little Willow Grove.” The town was a major shipbuilding center for almost 100 years, but the city’s proximity to San Francisco ruined its reputation as an exclusive place. It now spans 2.2 square miles, with a half square mile under the water. There are approximately 7,061 residents in this beautiful small community.

If you’re looking for a unique place to spend a day in the Bay Area, Sausalito is a great choice. This charming town sits at the northern tip of the Golden Gate Bridge, and offers sweeping views of the San Francisco Bay. Moreover, the scenic Golden Gate Bridge is an excellent way to start your day. There’s plenty of fun to be had in Sausalito. The city is worth visiting for its history, views, and architecture.

Another highlight of the city is the ferries from San Francisco. While the ferry doesn’t provide an audio tour, it does offer fantastic views of the bay. And if you’re planning to go on a seaplane tour, the ferry dock is just a few hundred yards away. A ride on the ferry offers a spectacular view of San Francisco Bay, passing Alcatraz and the famous Golden Gate Bridge. The ride ends with a breathtaking view of Angel Island, and you’ll also be able to stop in Tiburon along the way.
