15 Hiking Trails in Tallahassee Florida

July 7, 2022 | More: Hiking Trails| Tallahassee Florida

If you are considering relocating to Tallahassee Florida, here are some things to keep in mind. The city is relatively young, with a median age of 33. Residents tend to be younger than the rest of Florida, gravitating to dormitories in College Town and apartments in midtown. Downtown is home to a mixed population of families, retirees, and professionals, while the outer reaches of the city are home to middle-class neighborhoods and affluent gated communities.

Natural Bridge State Park is an area rich in Civil War history. Visitors can tour the historic site and participate in annual reenactments of the 1865 battle. This historic site also features several natural springs and sinkholes. Throughout the year, you can enjoy freshwater fishing, boating, and hiking along the St. Marks River. To top it all off, you can also enjoy a pub crawl in downtown Tallahassee.

Another popular spot in the city is the J.R. Alford Greenway, which features more than 17 miles of multi-use trails. Here, nature lovers can spend time birding, hiking, biking, and horseback riding. The trail also has plenty of green space, so everyone can find something to enjoy. Whether you’re on a budget or looking for a day trip, Tallahassee has something to offer.

Tallahassee’s historical importance is undisputed. In the 1800s, Tallahassee was the center of the slave trade in Florida. During the American Civil War, Tallahassee served as the Confederate state’s only capital east of the Mississippi. As a result, it was one of the few Confederate state capitals that was never captured by Union forces. The Battle of Natural Bridge, however, was held south of Tallahassee.

A large city located in the middle of Florida, Tallahassee is the county seat of Leon County and the state’s capital. The city is a popular college town and is home to Florida State University, Florida A&M University, and Tallahassee Community College. Tallahassee is home to many universities and is home to two of the state’s largest research facilities. In addition, Tallahassee is home to the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, making it an important research and educational center.

Visitors should make sure to take time to visit the Goodwood Museum & Gardens. This impressive 1830s plantation home sits amidst 16 acres of landscaped grounds. Inside, visitors can see original art, furniture, porcelain, and textiles. It is also home to Florida’s World War II Living Memorial. Whether you are looking for a little history or a lot of excitement, Tallahassee has something to offer everyone.

If you’re driving, it’s worth investing in a road map of Tallahassee. It will save you hours of driving around the city. The Tallahassee Visitor Center is located at East Jefferson Street, next to city hall and the Florida State Capitol building. The area has ample parking and is pedestrian-friendly. In addition to a comprehensive road map of the city, there are also statewide highway information available.
