15 Hiking Trails in Telluride Colorado

July 19, 2022 | More: Hiking Trails| Telluride Colorado

If you love outdoor activities and outdoor sports, a trip to Telluride is a must. If you are looking for the perfect way to spend your day in Telluride, Colorado, you’ve come to the right place. This small town has many great activities for people of all ages and interests. Whether you’re looking for something to do with the family, an adventure for couples, or a relaxing getaway, Telluride Colorado has it all.

If you’re looking for a scenic hike, head to Hope Lake in Telluride. A three-mile loop passes through aspen forests, fields, and sprawling vistas of Telluride. The trailhead is located along County Road 63A, so be sure to check out the signs before hopping on. The scenic views of Telluride are worth the drive. Once you’ve arrived at the trailhead, head east along the rocky road to the Hope Lake Trailhead.

You can also try the Sneffels Highline Loop, one of the most popular and challenging hikes in Telluride. Depending on your fitness level, this full-day hike requires you to be acclimated to altitude before trying it. You’ll need a good pair of hiking shoes and will need a car to get to the trailhead. Locals recommend doing the loop counterclockwise, as it’s much more difficult. Make sure to start early, though, as afternoon thunderstorms can be a threat.

There are many trails in Telluride that offer incredible views. The town’s 13-mile loop is popular with mountain bikers and horseback riders. The trail is easy to access from downtown and can take up to two hours to complete. Aside from scenic views, this trail also has minimal foot traffic. It’s worth a day or more to do. With so many activities and sights to choose from, Telluride Colorado is a great place to spend a day with your family or for a romantic getaway.

Hiking is a great way to explore the mountains and fall colors. Some of the best hikes in Telluride are moderate, and you can enjoy panoramic views of the town. The Cornet Creek Falls trail is a short hike, but it will reward you with an up-close view of a 80-foot waterfall. It also gives you a glimpse of the Telluride ski resort. A moderate trail, however, requires you to be prepared for loose terrain.

A highlight of the Imogene Pass trail is the abandoned town of Tomboy. Once the most active mining town in Colorado, this town is now on private property. The town is still worth exploring, but it isn’t safe for visitors. A great way to experience the town is to take part in a trail race in the area. In addition to the mountain biking races, there are plenty of opportunities for sightseeing, hiking, and horseback riding.
