Located in Barnstable County, this town is home to a population of 13,440, although the population is often up to 37,000 during peak season. Located in Cape Cod’s southeastern tip, Harwich is a charming seaside town. This area is surrounded by pristine beaches, prime recreation areas, and cultural attractions. With more than 500 years of history, the town has developed into a unique, multifaceted destination. From old-time seaside villages to nature-packed trails, Harwich offers something for everyone. If you want a laid-back vacation, Harwich is the perfect destination.

While most visitors to Cape Cod come for the beaches and the warm waters of the Atlantic Ocean, there is plenty to do and see in this town. Located just a few miles from the Cape Cod National Seashore, Harwich has excellent accommodations. The weather is temperate and gentle here, with only a few squalls or gusts of wind. Harwich is home to a historic horse racetrack and the Harwich Center.

There are several attractions in the town, including the Grand Slam Entertainment. Bumper boats, batting cages, zip lines, and rock climbing walls are all available for fun and relaxation. There are also numerous restaurants. You can dine at the Brax Landing Restaurant for a casual atmosphere and seafood dishes. The town’s downtown also features the most beautiful buildings in the country. And there are many other ways to enjoy your visit to The Harwiches.

Visitors to The Town of Harwich can also enjoy the summer season at the Cranberry Festival. The town also hosts the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Harwich Mariners. The town’s Whitehouse Field is the home of the Harwiches Mariners. While visiting, visitors can explore the antique center, which features over 40 dealers offering Victorian furniture, primitive items, and ephemera. Other items available at the Antique Center include postcards, military items, and coins.

The town of Harwich was incorporated in 1694 and included the present-day town of Brewster. The north parish was separated from the south parish in 1803. Josiah Paine, a Harwich native, has provided a detailed history of the town. The town is comprised of multiple villages, but all of them share a common sense of community. The town center is the heart of the community and houses most community life.

The town has a beautiful coastline and abundant wildlife. The town is home to eleven (11) miles of tidal shoreline on Nantucket Sound. Its harbors include Allens, Wychmere, and Saquatucket. There are also numerous bogs, including 22 freshwater bogs. The town also has two scenic river corridors. Bells Neck Road offers 320 acres of wetlands and water.
