15 Hiking Trails in Tucson Arizona

July 18, 2022 | More: Arizona| Hiking Trails

One of the most unique and interesting aspects of Tucson Arizona is that it’s surrounded by mountains and nature trails, making it a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. The city also aims to provide more opportunities for its residents to experience nature and commune with it. Mount Lemmon Ski Valley and the University of Arizona are just a couple of examples of places you can go for fun in the great outdoors. Regardless of your preference, you will find plenty of opportunities for employment and recreation in Tucson.

For those looking for a more challenging hike, the Wasson Peak Trail is moderately steep with rocky sections. The hike will reward you with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, desert vegetation, and wildlife. It is also the highest peak in the Tucson Mountains. After a day on the trail, you can enjoy the breathtaking view of the city from Wasson Peak. Located across Kinney Road from the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, this trail is two miles east of the Red Hills Visitor Center.

There are many hiking trails in Tucson that will appeal to hikers of all abilities. Hiking is one of the best ways to clear your mind and reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. Hiking trails in Tucson are well-maintained and suitable for all levels of fitness. You can choose from a 3.5-mile trail or a longer one that is just as enjoyable and challenging. For a family-friendly hike, try the Rillito River Trail, which features two parallel paths and is a softer surface for joggers. It’s a great way to spend your time outdoors, and you’ll pass by many shops and farmer’s markets along the way.

If you’re a nature lover, then you should take a walk in the desert. There are many cacti species that can be spotted on the nature trail. You can also hike up Seven Falls, but be aware that this is a long and challenging trail. A tram ride is an alternative option to cut down the time needed for the hike. The scenic views from the cactus garden will reward you with great memories.

There’s also plenty of culture in Tucson. The city’s first neighborhood, Barrio Viejo, is a historic Spanish-American settlement. During the summer, the city’s annual rodeo features cattle and horse events. The city is also home to the longest non-motorized parade in the world, the All Souls Procession. If you’re looking for fun in the desert, Tucson is a great city to visit.

The desert around Tucson is beautiful and lush, but the mountains and valleys conceal oases of life. Saguaros grow here and the cottonwoods along the riparian canyon add an atmospheric touch. The city has also been home to Hohokam petroglyphs, dating back at least two thousand years. A visit to these ancient sites will surely astonish you! In addition to the museums, there are also a few other places worth exploring in Tucson.
