15 Reasons to Travel to Delta Junction

March 11, 2022 | More: Delta Junction| Why Travel to

Delta Junction is a city in Southeast Fairbanks, Alaska. As of the 2010 census, the population of Delta Junction was 958. In 2000, the population was 840 and in 2018 the population was estimated at 931. The city is located near the confluence of the Tanana River and the Delaware River, also known as Big and Little Delayed Delta. Located just south of this point, Delta is a thriving community with a variety of commercial, residential, and industrial businesses.

A thriving economy, including a large RV park, made Delta Junction a popular vacation spot for visitors. It was also the first place that saw the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, which crosses the Tanana River. For those looking for a good place to eat, there are several restaurants and lodging options in the community, and there is also a brewery that serves locally crafted beer. The town also has a number of places to stay, including motels, bed and breakfasts, and a few hotels.

Delta Junction is located just over 200 miles past the state’s border, making it an ideal travel destination for the Alaska Highway. The town was originally a military post and construction camp for the Alaska Highway. In the early 1950s, the area was populated by settlers and gold miners, including the famous Pogo Gold Mine. In 2016, the Pogo Gold Mine celebrated its tenth year of operation and has yielded more than three million ounces of gold since its discovery. Today, over 300 people work at the mining operation.

While Delta Junction may not have many accommodations, it is still a pleasant destination for travelers. There are bed and breakfasts in the town, and an RV park is available for those who prefer to stay in the woods. Two state parks in the area feature campgrounds that are perfect for camping. Lost Lake Campground is less developed and offers fewer amenities, while Quartz Lake is more scenic and has a more developed campground. While both are beautiful, there are a few reasons to stay in the city.

The city is home to many activities. A visit to Delta Junction is sure to make you feel like a local. It is the perfect location for hiking or bicycling, with plenty of opportunities for outdoor adventures. With the endless views of the Alaska Range and abundant wildlife, this city is a great place to hike, bike, or take a hike. If you’re looking for something to do while you’re in the town, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to do so in the area.

The city was founded in 1904 as a telegraph station, but the city grew rapidly after the Chisana Gold Strike of 1913. During the 1920s, the community began to develop and became a booming community. In 1946, a dairy farm was established here and beef cattle were brought in by homesteaders. In 1960, the town became a city and was incorporated. It is a quaint little city located on a beautiful river.
