Duke University is one of the most renowned universities in the country, and its campus features the neo-Gothic Duke Chapel. Visit the Nasher Museum of Art to see contemporary art. If you are looking for family-friendly activities, check out the Museum of Life and Science for hands-on exhibits, a butterfly house, and wildlife habitats.

If you’re looking for a cultural experience, Durham is a great place to visit. The city is full of great food, arts and entertainment, and has a buzzing startup scene. If you are looking for a new home, there are several things you can do in Durham. The following are a few of the things you should do while you’re here. You’ll be glad you did! The downtown area of Durham is the heart of the city. A thriving arts and culture scene is evident in its restaurants and bars. Visitors can also find craft cocktail and specialty coffee menus, which cater to a younger crowd. The popular Press Coffee+Crepes is a great spot for breakfast or brunch. For lunch, try out Jack Tar and The Colonel’s Daughter, known for their delicious pancakes. For a seafood-shack-style lunch, try Saltbox Seafood Joint. The chef, Ricky Moore, is a semifinalist for the James Beard Award. The town’s historic buildings are now being restored and used for a variety of businesses.

A vibrant cultural scene is another reason to visit Durham. The city is home to a vibrant arts scene. The Bull Durham Blues Festival and OUTsouth Queer Film Festival are just a few of the events you can attend. If you love performing arts, the American Dance Festival and Tobacco Road Dance are two fun festivals to experience in Durham. There are also numerous galleries in the American Tobacco District that feature local musicians.

The music scene is rich and diverse. From jazz to bluegrass and folk to hip-hop, Durham has a thriving local music scene. There are many bands and musicians in Durham, including Branford Marsalis, Iron & Wine, and the Carolina Chocolate Drops. If you love live music, Durham is a great place to visit. You can also catch a concert in the city’s downtown. The City of Davidson is also worth a visit.

The downtown area has an active African-American community. In the early 20th century, there was a thriving Black community. The Hayti neighborhood, just south of the center of the city, was home to some of the largest black-owned businesses in the city. These businesses were located on Parrish St., which later became known as “Black Wall Street.” In 1874, Dr. James E. Shepard founded North Carolina Central University, the nation’s first publicly supported liberal arts college for African-Americans.
