15 Reasons to Travel to Exeter New Hampshire

March 24, 2022 | More: Exeter New Hampshire| Why Travel to

If you’re looking for a new home in a small town in the northeast, consider the town of Exeter in New Hampshire. With a population of 16,049 at the 2020 census, Exeter is growing in popularity. Although it was once the county seat, the county offices were relocated to nearby Brentwood in 1997. Today, Exeter is a charming place to live with a small town feel. If you’re considering a move to the area, consider the amenities offered by this quaint community.

The town of Exeter’s first schools were for girls and boys. The city’s population was around 400 at the turn of the nineteenth century. The town’s schools continued to grow with the addition of a high school. The first three high schools opened in 1847, and the second was built in 1867. The second school, the Phillips Academy, had 320 students in 1887. The town had two dormitories for students to stay in during the school year, but most stayed in Exeter.

The town’s early history is a rich one. The early settlements in Exeter were built before the Revolutionary War, and the town’s history is rich in local and state history. In 1791, a new courthouse-townhouse was built on the site of the bandstand today. A fire destroyed the old building in 1841 and it was replaced by the new one. In 1855, the town hall was rebuilt, but did not serve as the courthouse until 1893. In the same year, the county records building was built on Front Street. Later, it became the public library in 1894.

The town’s history is dotted with many interesting stories. Its town hall was built in the early 1800s and still serves as a community center. Even today, the town hall is frequently used for public events, and it is frequently rented out as an open forum throughout the year. In 1743, the Lady Justice statue was installed on the cupola. In 1744, President Washington visited Exeter and visited the town’s Folsom Tavern. In October of that year, the statue was replaced with no changes, although it was damaged in the hurricane.

While the town is known for its rich historical past, it’s still a modern community with a growing number of businesses. The town was once the provincial capital of New Hampshire, and today, it has a population of 14,058. It was a hub of commerce, but today, the town has a small downtown with a variety of restaurants and shops. The main street is lined with shops and galleries, and the city is surrounded by beautiful parks and waterways.

Its history also includes several famous historical figures. The town was the capital of the Revolutionary War in New Hampshire, and the American Independence Museum is located on Water Street. The museum houses the original Declaration of Independence, which was discovered during renovation in 1983. The Town Hall was also the place where Abraham Lincoln gave his famous speech, and his nephew, Robert Lincoln, lived in the city. The towns history is rich in a variety of ways.
