Fort Davis, Texas, is a census-designated place (CDP) in Jeff Davis County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,201 at the 2010 census, up from a population of 1,050 in the 2000 census. The city is the county seat of Jeffadison County. If you’re thinking about moving to Fort and looking for a new home, there are a few things you should know about this unincorporated community.

One of Fort Davis’ biggest draws is its awe-inspiring landscape. Despite being located in the middle of the desert, temperatures are cool during the summer. This makes for the perfect getaway for nature lovers, mountain bikers, stargazers, and others who enjoy the great outdoors. No matter how you spend your time outdoors, Fort and its surroundings will make for a memorable vacation. No matter what you do in Fort and beyond, you will find an experience that is perfect for you.

While you’re in the town, don’t miss the chance to take in some of the local culture. The Fort Davis National Historic Site has a giant parade, arts and crafts vendors, dance, and fantastic fireworks display. The holiday season is also a great time to explore Fort Davis, as nighttime caroling fills the downtown square. If you’re looking for something a little more adventurous, you might want to take a day trip to Marfa, a vibrant art scene and mysterious lights. If you’re a nature lover, you may also want to check out the Big Bend National Park, which is a few hours’ drive south of Fort Travis.

Hiking is another popular pastime in Fort Davis. There are many trails in the surrounding hills and valleys. Some of these include the Skyline Drive Trail, Indian Lodge Trail, Limpia Creek Loop, and Old CCC Trail. To top it off, the historic Indian Lodge features fireplaces and a pool for guests. There are guided tours of the area and a variety of activities. The area is a beautiful spot to visit, and you can make a day of it exploring the city.

If you’re looking to visit a historic fort, consider visiting the University of Texas McDonald Observatory. This facility is the world’s premier observatory for viewing the stars. It is a great place to spend a day, as the telescopes are accessible to everyone. During the day, you might want to spend some time in the small town’s small town center to buy organic foods. While visiting the area, consider taking the time to tour the nearby museums and take in its unique history.

Visitors to Fort Davis should be aware of its location. This is the highest town in Texas, with a high elevation of 5,050 feet. It is also a gateway to the Big Bend National Park, which is located about two miles south of Fort Davis. While there, you’ll be surrounded by nature, and there’s nothing more peaceful than listening to the sounds of the wind in the canyons. You can even enjoy a coffee shop in this small town.
